With so many festivals taking place over the weekend, you might think that activity in the city centre would be at a low ebb.
But oh brother – the truth is quite the contrary.
Between Beatyard after parties, hip-hop madness and a techno-themed birthday for one of Dublin's best nights, you're sorted for the boogie this bank holiday weekend.
The Sugar Club plays host to a special Irish appearance from Brooklyn’s esteemed MC, Jeru The Damaja, an affiliate of the legendary Gang Starr duo. Jeru rose to prominence with his 1994 debut album The Sun Rises In The East and has stayed loyal to the underground with his subsequent releases.
Expect classic East Coast beats, mesmerising flow and raw attitude. You won't be making much use of The Sugar Club's comfortable seating at this one; this'll be a pretty boisterous affair. €17
Kicking off the Subject birthday series is a whopper booking in the form of Robert Hood, also known as Floorplan – considered one of the founding figures of minimal techno.
A prolific producer and revered DJ, Hood has an intimate knowledge of techno and an uncanny knack for getting dancers moving. Pairing him with District 8's sizeable floor seems like a match made in heaven. €20-22
Pygmalion takes over the sizeable atrium of the Powerscourt Centre once again for another of their legendary bank holiday events. This time the energetic Claptone takes the stage, bringing his up beat, visually-engaging set to one of Dublin's best dance locations.
Claptone sets himself apart from many DJs through both his whopper tunes – his Gregory Porter remix has been gaining a crazy amount of hype – and his unique attire: he dons a gold Venetian mask and top hat for every performance. In the mood for a carnival atmosphere? Make sure you head to Pyg on Sunday. €20-25
London-based DJ/Producer Four Tet has established himself not only one of the best live acts going in his field, but also as one of premier spokesmen for electronic music today, branching off into critically-acclaimed collaborations with the likes of Thom Yorke.

A fantastic combination of sounds in store here, between these two acts you'll find it pretty much impossible not to let those hips shake and feet stomp.
Well-travelled performers Horse Meat Disco’s sumptuous sets light up dance floors wherever they spin around the globe and with local reggae/dancehall crew Sim Simma continuing their meteoric rise on Dublin’s music scene, hours upon hours of funky and hard-edged tunes await.
