The Planning Permission For Bulloch Harbour Retail Development Has Been Refused

Dalkey residents are now even more delighted than ever, as they've recently won their long-fought battle to save Bulloch Harbour, following Dun-Laoghaire / Rathdown County Council's refusal to allow for planning permission for a development on the site.

According to Dublin Live, residents just last month objected to plans by property group Bartra Capital for a residential and retail development on the site. The Bulloch Harbour Preservation Association announced swiftly after these proposals that this was was “completely out of scale” with the existing harbour.

The proposed development was compared to a 'Costa Del Sol' on the South County Dublin coastline. 

However, Dun-Laoghaire / Rathdown County Council have now ruled against the proposed development (which consisted of seven ground-floor commercial units fronting onto the harbour itself, with six three-storey terraced dwellings and a further three houses nearby) deciding the amount of area used by the site was excessive.

In a statement, the council said:

 “The design and layout of the development and the inadequate provision for marine related uses seriously compromises the achievement of a quality mixed use and integrated development with adequate and appropriate provision for marine and harbour related activities.”
