We never stop being amazed at the variety of events in the city every weekend. This weekend there's loads to keep you entertained from burlesque shows to craft beer pop ups to art and everything in between! Read on for our top 5 picks for the weekend...
If you are like most mere mortals, you will not have had a chance to see James Franco and Chris O’Dowd in the Broadway Production of Of Mice and Men. However, don’t panic, as you are in for a treat. Tonight the Lighthouse Cinema in Smithfield will be doing a once off screening of the National Theatre’s official recording of the production. This modern-day revival of John Steinbeck’s classic depression-era play is a compelling watch; with both Franco and O’Dowd’s performances having received Tony nominations, as well as widespread critical acclaim.
The Mart brings together Irish and Japanese artists to pose the questions of our time. Is our modern culture too narcissistic? Are we obsessed with selfies and self-promotion on social media? The exhibition, which runs until the 14th November, presents the general public with a series of video pieces that illuminate these topics and force us to take one hard look into ourselves.

This festival is aimed at celebrating a decade of Burlesque and Cabaret tradition in Ireland. Going from strength to strength over the 4 years of its existence, the festival is being organised by a team who have been dedicated to Burlesque since its revival over 11 years ago in Ireland.The varied line up of guest acts, bands and hosts will help celebrate the art of Burlesque through various different forms: speakeasies, workshops, fashion shows, galas, and afternoon teas. Prepare for more sassiness and red lipstick than you can shake a feather boa at. The festival is running from today until Sunday in locations around the city.
For those craving a Beatlemania fix since the 60s, the Dublin Beatles Festival is here to fill that void. The three day long experience will feature all things Beatles, with a number of bands performing the classics throughout the city. Also on the cards is a mix of Beatles themed theatre, a Beatles table quiz and a screening of The Rutles, the classic 1978 Beatles parody film. The festival runs from tomorrow until Sunday and will be taking place in various locations throughout the city.
This is a newly-commissioned presentation of works by British artist Chris Evans. In his work, Evans engages with people from a broad range of professions, selected specifically for their symbolic or public role. Most recently Evans has been involved with the editors of the Morning Star newspaper, the directors of a jewellery company, politicians and an anonymous philanthropist. His engagement with people from these walks of life, and his focus on the work they create truly comes to the fore in this fascinating exhibition which is taking place in the Project Arts Centre from now until the 17th January.
