Having gotten through yesterday, the Monday-est Monday ever might I add, I have my sights set on the rest of the week…more specifically, how to fill it chock-a-block with events.
Luckily Dublin’s social calendar is overflowing with things to do and I’ve rounded up five of the coolest events happening this week below.
ISLA (Irish Spanish Latin American) Festival
Taking place this Thursday and Friday at Instituto Cervantes and other venues across the city, the works of 14 writers and artists will be showcased. Now in its eight-year, there will be entertainment in the form of cinema, music, literature, photography and poetry.

10 Weirdest Foods To Eat Before You Die - Food Tasting Event at Asia Market
This is one for the adventurous foodies out there. An opportunity to try some of the most unusual foods out there, you’ll get to sample the weird and the wonderful; from Durian the ‘King of Fruit’ to a thousand-year-old egg (yes, really), to fish balls and Japanese eel.

Housed in the Asia Market on Drury Street, the event will take place this Thursday in the basement room. Those brave enough to attend will leave with a goody bag. Picky eaters need not apply.
Meditation Class
Running every Tuesday until November 5, this is the perfect way to take some time out of your day and just breathe. Located at 7 Clare Street, just opposite the entrance to the National Gallery, this week’s class will focus on gratitude.

Suitable for novices and experts alike, each class includes a talk, two guided meditations and a Q&A. Individual classes cost €10 or €30 for a block of 4. No need to pre-book, just drop in.
Tola Vintage Kilo Sale
Buying pre-loved bits is the way forward, support the circular economy and all that. Tola are hosting a massive kilo sale this Sunday at the Radisson Blu Hotel from 10am to 6pm. Entrance costs just €1 (cheaper than your morning coffee) and prices start at €2.

What is a kilo sale? Well, the premise is simple; pick what you like, get it weighed at the till and pay €20 for every kilo of clothes you have. Learn from my mistakes though and try not to fall in love with the heaviest items in there, or your wallet will be in trouble.
Dumpling Making Workshop at The Vintage Teapot
Running as part of the Dublin Town Food & Drink Festival, this is a must for the Chinese food fans amongst us. You’ll be taught expert tips and tricks and learn the secret to making top-notch dumplings.

The event includes a tasting of five types of Chinese dumplings (along with all those you make yourself) as well as a choice of two different times of fine Chinese tea.
