PIC: People Are Getting Really Bloody Angry Over This Statue On Baggot Street

The confirmation of Catherine Corless' tireless efforts came in the form of the highly-publicised Tuam baby scandal this week, poignantly conveying the macabre nature of the Galwegian Magdalene Laundry in the 1970s. 

The scandal was unfolded several years ago, awaiting government funding and vindication to explore the depths of the gruesome plot. 

With this brought to light, the people of Ireland are, naturally, pretty bloody horrified by the child-reading style (or lack thereof) of the Catholic Church at the time.

This statue, spotted on Baggot Street Lower, was brought to our attention by Twitter user Grace O'Malley, who was also suitably horrified by the stance it took. 

Grace spoke to Lovin Dublin about the petrifying backstory of the icon:

''Pass it every morning and it always made me shiver. Now I know why. Should be taken down immediately. It just does nothing for the women of Ireland who have been abused systematically by these women in robes.''
