MART Could Be Kicked Out Of Its Gorgeous Rathmines Location – Here’s What You Can Do To Help

MART – the visual arts organisation based in the old fire station in Rathmines – has learned that it may soon be kicked out of its current location due to plans to redevelop the site.

Curators Ciara Scanlan and Matthew Nevin have heard from sources at Dublin City Council that there is a development plan to eventually demolish their building in order build a laneway to a Dublin Corporation Yard.

"Three years ago we began the difficult but rewarding journey of renovating the old firestation in Rathmines. It took 16 months of DIY, fundraising and lots of volunteers to get it to a standard to open the doors," Ciara told Lovin Dublin.

We lease the building from Dublin City Council, and would love the opportunity to stay and become a permanent part of the community.

While the plans are two years down the line yet, the organisation now wants to gather up enough public support to prevent the plan from going through.
