What We’re Lovin in Dublin This Weekend

Another weekend fast approached and no plans? Tired of aimlessly bobbing into town for the day shopping or to the same boring local for a few on Saturday night? Well I've found a few random events on this weekend that look like an interesting way to inject a bit of culture into your weekend. Here's what we're loving this weekend...

Dublin Dance Festival

Yes it’s true, apparently there are some people in Dublin who can actually dance! And I’m not talking about the robot at 3am in Coppers. The Dublin Dance Festival takes place until the 31^st May in multiple venues across the fair city and brings world renowned dancers to Dublin for some pretty incredible looking performances.

Gallery of Photography, Dublin 

After Pol mentioned the Gallery of Photography in his post yesterday I decided to check it out. There’s an exhibition on this weekend by Swiss photographer, Jean Mohr, and it’s a series of moving humanist shots titled “War from the Victim’s Perspective”. It is the first time its being shown in Ireland and the gallery is in Meeting House Square, Temple Bar- so very central. It’s worth popping into for an hour if you’re in town for the day, and you could always swing by the Temple Bar farmer’s market on your way out.

Des Bishop Coming Home

After a year in China, Des is back in Dublin. He's in Vicar Street this weekend to regale us with tales of his adventures and experiences in China and the surprising things he missed from home. This is surely going to be a bit of craic, and after a long week in work a comedy gig always ticks the box.

Whelan's Live From The Window with Otis

The jazz group, Otis, seem like a pretty lively bunch and are doing a free gig in Whelans on Friday night at 8.30pm. They sound good and are full of energy, and sure Whelan's is always great craic...  if you ask us live music and a few drinks is the perfect way to start off the weekend!
