Kids In Dublin Are Getting Two Weeks Of Free Public Transport This Month

As the Kids Go Free scheme kicks off for its second year, children from the age of four to 18 can avail of two whole weeks of free public transport services starting this Monday, July 6.

According to The Herald, holders of child Leap cards will be able to travel for free on Dublin Bus, DART, Luas and all public transport in Dublin, as well as Bus Éireann city services in Dublin and surrounding counties. The nifty perk will also apply in Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford.

Transport Minister Paschal Donohoe reckons the promotion will raise awareness of the cheaper fares the Leap card offers (a 15-20% saving) and encourage families and young people to use public transport while enjoying their summer holidays.

“This initiative rewards Leap Card users, giving them a valuable incentive they'll feel in their pocket, at a time when they are out and about enjoying what we hope will be July summer sun."
