Senior members of An Garda Síochána said that they are confident enough in their abilities to confirm that they would be able to respond to a terror attack in Dublin within 8 minutes.
According to 98FM, Gardaí did a practice run over the weekend to confirm such beliefs, following the tragic London Bridge attack.
Assistant Commissioner John Twomey had to this say about the reports:
''We did a paper exercise to see what our response capacity would have been at the same time to the incident in London. We are happy that we would have had nine armed units in the vicinity of Dublin City Centre and we are happy our response would have been of a similar time to that in the UK.''
Following the London attacks, armed officers are currently surrounding a Garda Station in County Wexford questioning a man who's believed to have been involved.
The man was arrested at a business premises in Wexford Town yesterday afternoon.
He's suspected to have links to Rachid Redouane, who lived in Ireland for some time before the attack.
A reporter for South East Radio, Jimmy Gahan, said:
"We understand that the name of this man emerged after documents found on or near Rachid Redouane following the attack, named him as a possible suspect.''"He was taken to Wexford Garda station and he is being detained there as we speak.
