The remains of a body were discovered in bushes on Old Military Road which runs through Dublin and the Wicklow Mountains on Saturday evening.
A group of people were returning from a picnic at approximately 7.45pm when they came across a human torso, according to Independent.ie.
Gardaí are working to identify the body which has yet to be determined how long was left there for.
An investigation, similar to a murder investigation, has been launched. Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
Superintendent Pat Ward from Bray Garda station said that investigators are satisfied the victim had met with a violent end.
