So you're off the booze for the month, either on a health buzz or as punishment for your Christmas socialising. You've been keeping it steady in the wake of the festive season.
The clean buzz isn't the worst - you're in the smug league of people carrying yoga mats and jogging on the spot by traffic lights. A big, happy, healthy family.
Only problem? You're in need of some socialising and night-time entertainment!
Fear not, brave souls. Here are the best events in town to laugh the night away...
The Ha'penny Bridge Inn, Temple Bar
This is the perfect comedy night for those with an edgier taste. With an open platform and a stellar MC in the form of Connor McDonough-Flynn, there's no telling which way the jokes and stories will go with this one!
Pop in here for a raucous night every Wednesday and Sunday.
Doors open: 9:00pm. Estimated end time: 11:20pm.
Curious about Ireland's emerging, young comedy figures? At €5 this event is a steal, given the raw energy and amount of comedians on show. These pop up regularly so keep an eye on the event page to learn more.
The Black Hole In The Wall is back! Dublin's go-to alternative comedy night returns to the city, with the express purpose of leaving you crying with laughter and thoroughly beyond your comfort zone. Ireland is renowned for its particularly dark brand of comedy and this is the type of event that completely does this tradition justice.
This Friday's event includes: Ashlee Bentley, Sarah Blake Knox, Oisín Hanlon, Sarah Jade Davidson, Edwin Sammon, Séamus Stackpoole and is topped off with the savage wit of MC Gareth Lyons.
Sure don't we all want to get on the telly? Here's your chance to be part of the audience for an exciting TV pilot shoot featuring six top quality comedians.
This has all the makings of a really lively event and is certainly something you wouldn't get the chance to do every week. Need a little more convincing? It's free! (Places are offered on a first come first served basis however, so follow the link to get involved)
The International Bar, Wicklow Street
With renowned nightly events Thursday through Sunday and a stage familiar to many of the giants of Irish comedy, The International Bar's comedy club is a great bet for taking in some quality comedy.
With a curated lineup in a nice location close to Grafton Street, these events have been going strong for 16 years, so they must be doing something right!

Things get loose at this well established comedy event which is centred on the improv skills of its comedians and engagement of the audience.
Expect hilarious off the cuff sketches and truly unique personalities taking part in this!
