Over 1,000 People Have Signed A Petition To Introduce ‘Car-Free Sundays’ In The City Centre

The sight of empty streets in Dublin City is usually a surefire sign that it's Christmas Day or an extreme weather event such as the Beast From The East has occurred. 

However, it could be something we'll soon be seeing more often as over 1,000 people have now signed a petition to introduce 'car-free Sundays' on certain streets in the capital. Set up by Dublin Cycling Campaign, the move would see locals and visitors 'enjoy Dublin City Centre without the hustle and bustle of motor vehicles'.

Similar initiatives have successfully taken place in places like Belfast, Paris (below) and Singapore and the petition calls on Dublin City Council to begin trials in summer 2018.
