Morocco is known for a few things.
Beautiful patterns, fantastic food and really cool people — and Moro Kitchen has that in droves.
Following the success of their sister restaurant, Dada on South William Street, the team behind the two decided they wanted to bring North African and Levant souk flavours to 21 Camden Street, capturing the street food of this part of the world in a casual atmosphere.
And that they do. They really, really do.
The interior is a mix of fresh patterns, fun decor and authentic Moroccan designs – all with modern twists. Meaning you feel at home, while also feeling like you're abroad – all at the same time.
They state themselves that 'everyday food doesn't need to be complicated', and they practice what they preach, as they provide simple, healthy and delicious recipes from scratch, without preservatives or additives (no canned stuff here) or anything of the sort.
The menu is a mix of all the Moroccan and middle eastern well known dishes. The team behind it decided to open Moro to offer our exciting food for the every day, with reasonable pricing. Where as Dada is more of a restaurant where you need to book in advance, Moro is the sort of place where you can just pop in at any time.
From spicy harissa falafel wraps, Moroccan style eggs, aubergine paté, marinated grills and the classic merguez, you have plenty of choice depending on your food style.
They also make their falafel from scratch, letting the chick peas soak overnight, then blending them with olive oil, lemon, tahini, coriander and mint.
Speaking to Moro owner, Aziz, he told Lovin Dublin:
“We grew up on mediterranean food, the kind of diet you want to be in for life, and best yet is affordable. So when we found this place in Camden Street we didn't think about it twice. We wanted a cafe, restaurant and take away all at once, where we can go everyday and have healthy food you cannot get tired of and at the same time sit in a place that has been made with care and passion. We got all our furniture from a renowned designer in Marrakech and searched for every detail in the souks, the result is this place.''
They serve lunch, dinner and, yes, brunch.
Oh, and when you go, make sure you order their Moroccan green tea with fresh mint. You'll thank us.
Moro Kitchen is open from 12noon on Monday – Friday and 10:30am on Saturdays and Sundays.
