Staff at a Dublin bridal shop and brides-to-be waiting on their dresses have been left in a panic after finding out it would be closing suddenly after 21 years.
Berketex Bride in the Jervis Centre announced the news earlier this week to its three full-time and one part-time staff member.
They are yet to find out if they’ll get their wages in time for Christmas from the chain which also has 11 stores in the UK.
It’s now been taken over by UK administrators Wilson Field, though staff and brides-to-be don’t yet know what will happen next.
One bride named Karen said to Dublin Live that she was told there was “basically no chance” she’d get a refund on a dress hoop that she never received, though she did manage to get a veil she had been waiting on.
She added, "They said the chances of me getting my money back for it is none basically. I am just so blessed I collected my dress beforehand."
Meanwhile, a huge number of brides have been leaving comments on the chain's Facebook page and one woman said her dress had never even been made despite paying in full in August.
In a post shared on the Berketex Bride Facebook page, the administrators wrote, ‘This company has ceased to trade with immediate effect. This shop, and all other outlets trading as Berketex Bride, will be closed from 13 November 2018 and will not re-open.’
They added, 'Wilson Field Limited appreciate that this will be distressing for the customers of the company and will deal with individual queries as quickly as possible however we anticipate a high volume of calls and therefore ask for your patience in advance.’
