It's always nice to give back to the community and with longer, brighter evenings the summer is the perfect time to volunteer..
With this in mind, we've picked out some Dublin organisations who are currently on the look out for volunteers.

Focus Ireland
With 70 new families newly homeless in June alone this year, Focus Ireland need any help they can get. Whether you want to arrange your own fundraiser, or volunteer longer term (as a schools visit ambassador, assistant in their Temple Bar café, etc) they'd love to have you on board. You can find more info here.
Stepping Stone
Stepping Stone Open Cinema is a free weekly cinema club held every Monday at 5.30pm in The Dublin Food Co-op. Open Cinema provides a creative and social outlet to those experiencing homelessness in Dublin, and they're always looking for people to come on board as volunteers to help out fortnightly. If movies, a chat and helping with refreshments sounds like your cup of tea, you can find out more about Stepping Stone Open Cinema here.
Age Action
Reckon you're so good at using the internet that you could teach someone else? Age Action Ireland is recruiting volunteer computer tutors for its 'Getting Started' programme in Dublin. The programme assists older people (55+) to learn basic IT, internet and email skills to increase independence and equality. If you've got an hour or two to spare each week, this could be your philanthropic calling!
FoodCloud
By volunteering with FoodCloud you go to supermarkets on the outskirts of the city, collect surplus food and then bring it to city centre charities in an ESB sponsored FoodCloud e-car. Anyone over 18 can volunteer as a navigator, but to volunteer as a driver you must be 25 or over with a full clean drivers licence. If you want to find out more about volunteering opportunities with FoodCloud click here.
If you're based near Dun Laoghaire, this one's for you! Meals on Wheels prepare and deliver 90 meals to the elderly and ill in the area. They are currently in need volunteers to help with cooking, serving and wash up on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 8am - 11am. Volunteers are only required to commit to one morning every second week, so you could even squeeze it into your Saturday morning.
